Abstract

Kriminalni roman je pogosto del trivialne literature in pripoveduje zgodbo o zločinu. Njegovi začetki segajo v drugo polovico 19. stoletja. Pisatelja Edgar Allan Poe in Conan Arthur Doyle pa sta njegovo popularnost razširila po vsem svetu. Poznamo dva modela: angleški oz. whodunit? in ameriški oz. hard boiled school.

The crime novel is often a part of trivial literature and is telling us a story about a crime. The first crime novels were written in the second half of the 19th century. The writers Edgar Allan Poe and Conan Arthur Doyle made the crime novel popular in the whole world. Two models are known: the English or Whodunit? and the American or hard boiled school model. »Something has happened again«, is the most famous sentence by the Austrian writer Wolf Haas. He wrote a collection of crime novels that includes the character of detective Simon Brenner. His writing style is special and unique in the world of the crime novel but it is also this uniqueness that divides his readers: some love him, some criticise him. The master‟s thesis compares Haas‟ crime novel model with the traditional one. Readers‟ and the reviewers‟ opinions will be presented as Haas knew how to divide them. The last chapter contains a comparison between Haas and two other Austrian writers – Helmut Gekle and Gerhard Roth in order to present the speciality of Haas‟ crime novels which have already gained a »cult status« in the German talking regions.
